Tiny cake stand

I love a good rummage in charity shops. I had it in my mind to make my own cake stand and when I found this dainty sideplate with its burnt orange border I was sold (well for 50c you can’t go too far wrong). I matched it with a similarly priced metal candlestick and a squeeze of superglue later I had my cake stand. One problem… the place measured just over 5 inches wide. Even my small 6 inch round tin would be too big! I felt it deserved more than just a humble cupcake so resolved to find a smaller tin. A trawl through TKMaxx the following day uncovered a perfectly formed 4.5 inch round tin. There was nothing left to do but bake a cake!
