Happy Birthday to me

Yesterday I made myself a sweet birthday treat of a delicious chocolate fudge cake with chocolate buttercream icing. Even though it tasted good, I think I’ll use a nice ganache icing next time. When it comes to chocolate, the more intense the better I think.

I got the recipe from Lindy Smith’s website which is full of great advice too. The chocolate leaves were my daughters idea after she saw them on the cover of another book (well I say idea but it was more of a demand). She could hardly restrain herself when she saw them. They were the simplest of things to make. Just paint a thick coat of melted chocolate on the back of a leaf, chill in the fridge and then peel the leaf away!
