Cupcake Toppers

It was my nephews 1st birthday recently and a perfect opportunity to try some fondant cupcake toppers (as well as some butterfly plunger cutters!) I have always liked lace embossing on fondant so decided to give it a try on some low risk toppers. As I didn’t have any lace mats I tried it with actual lace and it worked a treat. I’m quite pleased with the butterflies also, despite making them inside out the first time. I just made a V-shape from card and lay the soft butterflies over it which hardened in the V- shape.DSC_0527

The cupcakes themselves are a simple vanilla sponge with vanilla buttercream, made all the tastier by using vanilla bean paste.
