Baby girl cardy (with a little friend)

This cute cardigan is for a little girl due early next year. I’m not usually one for sticking to the ‘pink for girls’ ideology but this yarn and pattern pairing overruled me! It’s a super quick pattern by Georgie Hallam and can be found here.

The yarn I used, Sirdar Simply Recycled works really well for baby knits on account of it’s lovely texture and drape. It’s the buttons that really set it off though. I’m a huge button fan and have often thought that buttons are to knitted garments what typography is to graphic design. Get it right and it merges seamlessly with your design elevating your object to a new level, get it wrong and it’s all you can see to the detriment of your overall design. I think it works here.

p.s. the little bear is one of a collection I’m working on for an upcoming Craft Fair. Stay tuned to see the whole family soon.

  1. Julie, I’ve never heard anyone wax so lyrically about buttons, but please do continue, it’s a whole other universe…
